The Joys of Being Pure At Heart

I did something different today for my morning group. We went to the park. The content remained similar to most groups but the process was so different. We used the last 15 minutes playing on the swings, climbing the monkey bars and sliding down the slides. In a way it was completely unconventional from any other type of therapy I usually do. As I sat swaying back and forth on the swings it triggered a happiness long forgotten. I watched the teens jump around, climb, chase and laugh hysterically. It was probably one of the most beautiful moments I have ever seen. to experience these teen who are in crisis, abused, neglected, put down, thrown away and hopeless come alive in such a spontaneous way was incredible. I know it is easy to imagine such resilience but witnessing their inner child so carefree and full of joy come alive in the face of interpersonal pain gives hope to anything. I appreciate them for showing me this.

Go Bold or Go Home

Del Taco, you keep inspiring me in so many ways. You have delicious burritos and crisp golden fries and now your macho logo inspires an entry.

Have I become a bold person? A part of me thinks yes. I think I have nothing to lose sometimes and just say whats on my mind and wait for the reaction. Boldness does not mean I will say something to hurt another feelings. No, bold to me is best defined as an act of assessing who/what is a good fit for me. I think in the process though it pushes people away. Being bold requires that I must accept when I make people feel uncomfortable but hey, life is short as a good friend said. Live in the moment, live in the present (isn't that what I tell my clients?) So I will practice what I preach and ask for what I want. I can't tell you, the reader, the receiver to take it easy or with a grain of salt. What you here is my truth (presently). Chances are if you are hearing it then I already feel comfortable telling you how I feel.

And maybe some things are better left unsaid
But if you wanted to test that out I will
But there were nights in bars that I recall
Your breath was courage laced with alcohol
You leaned in and said,
"Make music with the chatter in here,
And whisper all the notes in my ears."
I didn't know, I didn't know the weight of my tongue
I didn't know, I didn't know what I'd done

Mr. Most-Out-Of-It

Certainly every man's ignorance is a darkness of infinite dimensions. But suburban and urban American's who read the same papers, see the same ads and billboards, and suck in the same radio and TV waves have a right to expect a certain commonality of knowings among themselves.

Play the Part

Spending time
Convinced that it's mine
With her, just to keep her out of mind

I don't find it funny, anymore
And so I won't play the part, I played before

Hoppipolla (Revisited)

"When you're young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun, then you grow up and learn to be cautious; you could break a bone, or a heart. You look before you leap and sometimes you don't leap at all because there's not always someone there to catch you. And in life, there is no safety net. When did it stop being fun and start being scary?"

This is my second post using Hoppipolla and this time it greets me with a different message

Marry Me

Many people wanna make money make love
make friends make peace with death
But most mainly want to win the game they came to win
they want to come out ahead
But you you're a rock with a heart like a socket I can plug into at will
And will you guess when I come around next
I hope your open sign is blinking still
And as for me I have to agree I'm as fickle as a paper doll
being kicked by the wind when I touch down again I'll be in someone elses arms
